About
Fırat University Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department started its undergraduate education activities with 57 students in the Fall Semester of the 2018-2019 Academic Year.
Student admission to the undergraduate program is made according to the principles determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Graduate students who successfully complete the program by meeting all requirements receive a Bachelor's Degree Diploma in Psychological Counseling and Guidance. Successfully completing all courses in the program and having a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 is a qualification requirement for graduation.
The aim of the Psychological Counseling and Guidance undergraduate program is to provide psychological counselor candidates with a general psychological counseling and guidance formation and to train psychological counselors needed by health, sports, justice and industrial institutions, especially educational institutions. Program graduates can mostly work as psychological counselors in primary school, secondary school, high school and higher education institutions, as well as other health, sports, justice and industrial institutions and organizations.

Mission
Fırat University Faculty of Education, Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance has set as its mission to train Psychological Counselors who are open to the changes needed by the country in the face of cultural, economic and technological changes, are productive, have adopted ethical principles, and engage in high-quality scientific research and development activities.
In this context, the following objectives have been adopted as a department:
1. To train Psychological Counselors (Guidance Teachers) who are competent in school psychological counseling, family counseling, career counseling and industrial counseling, which are needed by the Ministry of National Education and other public institutions and organizations,
2. To train faculty members needed by higher education,
3. To train psychological counselors who support individual and institutional development, as needed by public institutions and organizations as well as the private sector,
4. To support the professional competencies of teacher candidates,
5. To provide in-service training as well as psychological counseling services needed by our university's students, faculty members and administrative staff,
6. Organizing conferences, seminars, panels within the scope of social responsibility or contributing to the organizing institutions and organizations,
7. To carry out educational activities and research projects and provide consultancy services in cooperation with faculty members in different disciplines and public institutions and organizations,
8. To support our students to become individuals who are sensitive to social problems, can take personal and social responsibility, and can create opportunities to make a positive contribution to society,
9. To make our students a part of their lives by providing them with knowledge, skills and experiences that will improve their general quality of life, especially university life.

To help every individual who will lead Turkey to success develop all their physical, mental, social and emotional capacities at the most appropriate level in line with their own interests and abilities.
