As part of the School Counseling and Guidance Practicum course conducted by the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance at the Faculty of Education, Fırat University, an online information and evaluation meeting regarding the practicum process was held on June 8, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

The meeting was attended by faculty members of the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance and cooperating school counselors serving as practicum supervisors.

In the opening session, the importance of the School Counseling and Guidance Practicum course in developing the professional competencies of counselor candidates was emphasized. Discussions also focused on the quality of the practicum process and the importance of strengthening collaboration between the university and schools.

Participants were informed about the procedures and requirements of the practicum process, including the practicum schedule, attendance regulations, preparation of activities and reports, the responsibilities of counselor candidates, and assessment criteria. In addition, faculty members and practicum supervisors discussed key issues that should be considered to ensure that counselor candidates benefit from the practicum experience to the greatest extent possible.

During the discussion session, evaluations were made regarding compliance with school regulations, professional ethical principles, effective communication skills, the planning of counseling and guidance services, communication processes with students and parents, and adaptation to institutional culture. Practicum supervisors emphasized the importance of counselor candidates actively participating in school counseling and guidance services, fulfilling their professional responsibilities, and utilizing feedback as an opportunity for professional growth and development.

The meeting concluded with the sharing of opinions and recommendations regarding the practicum process, followed by expressions of appreciation to all participants for their valuable contributions.
